CPU cooling tips n tricks, keep cool when needed – Part II

May 25th, 2009 No comments

Well people this is the Part II of the article, you can browse through the first article….

So, do you use your computer for easy tasks like, using Microsoft Word or reading an E-Book or some light tasks….Then probably the processor automatically scales down its frequency and volatage…..But it isn’t sufficient for most….especially for those using laptops and want more from their laptop battery.

So, you would love to have control on the frequency and voltage that your processor uses as it is very important for the battery life as well as the heat dissipated by the processor and all the other components.

Here is a program (although technical but easy) which can control the frequency as well as the volatge which is supplieed to the CPU….

Download RMClock CPU Utility

Whenever you change the settings, change it very slightly as if you increase it by a large margin, it could permanently damage your processor and/or other components…..Please read the program documentation carefully before you use…..Also use this program only when needed…..

So, you can now tune the frequency/voltage of the processor as per your usage and save energy as well as keep the processor cool….

New Logo for this Blog, and updated audio Section

May 20th, 2009 No comments

You might not have noticed but, this blog didn’t even have a logo…(Funny isn’t it..). Yes, I didn’t actually

think about creating a logo before but now thought it was really needed as a logo gives an unique identity to the

site….So I have created a very simple logo via PhotoShop (The logo is very basic and it shows that I am very bad

at photoshop). But even then I have designed this logo in about 15 minutes and applied it to the blog…..

So this post is nothing, but it defines a change in the way forward for this small beginning…..

If you have anything to say then you can send me an e-mail at : admin@tech-how.com

Feel free and speak whatever you feel like. :)

Make your wireless network more secure….Learn How you can do it???

May 13th, 2009 No comments

Using wi-fi at your place……Are you sure that it is secure too…..

Many people use wi-fi networks without the knowledge of the administrator..i.e. they use it illegally…..So there is an urgent need to secure your wi-fi network from unauthorized access…..I will guide you through some important techniques when used together will make your network highly secure…..

The first and the most important thing is the location of your wi-fi router…..Place it strategically so that its signal remains within your home only…..

Placing it at the center of the house is a very good idea so that the walls of your house will weaken the signal considerably that moves out of your house.

The next important thing is:

Securing your network with inbuilt security within windows…..Use either WPA or WEP Encryption….so that your data is not easily *VISIBLE* to people outside your network……By using the encryption technologies, you assign an access key to every user on the network, without which it is not possible to use the nnetwork…..
(Remember that WPA is better than WEP,but it is not compatible with all wireless devices…).

Another important feature is present on the hardware of the router itself that is disabled by default…..I am talking about the MAC Address filtering…(MAC – It is a unique address assigned to every network card). Here’s what you need to do….

Invoke your router configuration menu by typing in the address of your router….(Generally 192.168.0.1)…
Then find MAC Address filter and enable it, if disabled…..Also include all the MAC Addresses that are going to use the network……This filter helps prevent users other than the MAC Addresses you have mentioned in your filter….

These techniques altogether will make your wi-fi network secure and have peace of mind (regarding un-lawful usage of your network..)…..

Till then Happy Surfing….and Thanks for reading this article….
